Qualifying mode

Transform qualifying sessions into an immersive experience. Watch your smart lights react in real-time as your favorite driver completes each sector, with colors indicating their performance against the field and their personal bests.

What makes Qualifying Mode special

Real-time sector tracking

Each of your three lights represents a sector of the track. As your driver completes each sector, the corresponding light instantly changes color based on their performance - no delay, no lag, just pure real-time feedback.

Performance indicators

Purple means fastest overall sector time. Green means personal best. Yellow means slower than personal best. At a glance, you'll know exactly how your driver is performing.

Understanding the color system

P

Purple - fastest overall

When your driver sets the fastest sector time across all drivers, the light turns purple. This is the ultimate achievement - your driver is the fastest through that sector.

Example: Lewis Hamilton completes Sector 1 in 18.234s, the fastest time of any driver. Your Sector 1 light turns purple.

G

Green - personal best

When your driver sets their personal best time for that sector (even if not the fastest overall), the light turns green. This shows improvement and progress.

Example: Max Verstappen completes Sector 2 in 18.456s, his best time for that sector today. Your Sector 2 light turns green.

Y

Yellow - slower than best

When your driver's sector time is slower than their personal best, the light turns yellow. This helps you track consistency and identify where improvements are needed.

Example: Lando Norris completes Sector 3 in 18.892s, slower than his earlier 18.456s. Your Sector 3 light turns yellow.

Technical details

Supported sessions

Qualifying Mode works with Q1, Q2, Q3, and Sprint Qualifying sessions. The system automatically detects when a qualifying session is active and enables the mode.

Light requirements

You need a minimum of 3 connected smart lights (LIFX, Philips Hue or Govee), or a single Hue room/zone. Each light will be assigned to a specific sector (S1, S2, S3) during setup.

Broadcast delay support

Just like Race Mode, Qualifying Mode respects your broadcast delay settings. Lights will react at the exact moment you see the sector time on your screen, keeping everything perfectly synchronized.

Real-time updates

Sector times are polled in real-time. As soon as a driver completes a sector, the data is processed and your lights update instantly - no waiting, no buffering.

Experience qualifying like never before

Qualifying Mode is now available in beta. Make sure you have at least 3 smart lights connected and ready to go!
