The Safety car flag

Race neutralised behind the Safety Car.

The Safety Car neutralises the race when there is a hazard that needs marshals on track but does not require a red flag. Drivers bunch up behind it at a controlled speed and overtaking is not allowed. It is signalled with "SC" boards and yellow flags.

When the hazard is cleared, the Safety Car returns to the pits and the race restarts at the start/finish line.
